When Charles Mingus took the stage at Stuttgart's Liederhalle on April 28, 1964, the jazz world was undergoing a transformation-and Mingus was at the forefront. Known for his fiery creativity and defiance of convention, Mingus's performance that night, preserved on this recording, is a testament to his genius. With Eric Dolphy by his side, the group delivered a set that was both politically charged and musically adventurous.
